ImaginePlaces brings fresh and effective thinking to your planning and co-design processes. The work we get involved with, and importantly how we approach it, builds on 20 years of hands-on expertise, working with diverse stakeholders at the heart of the design, planning and delivery process.

Angela Koch is leading the small studio. Before founding ImaginePlaces in 2010, Angela worked as Urban Designer at Urban Initiatives, as Head of Consultation and at Colin Buchanan in the UK and at a sustainability think-tank in Germany.

She has a notable track record in delivering best practices and a contagious drive for innovation. Angela serves on a number of Design Review Panels and chairs the St Albans City and District Council’s Panel on behalf of Design South East.

Delivering meaningful engagement between design team members, landowners and residents with tangible impacts on design work, planning applications and the built place drives her practice.

ImaginePlaces’ design charrette approach in planning application contexts with local authorities, private landowners/developers and local communities received national recognition as finalist in the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Awards for Planning Excellence 2017|Plan Making Practice. The ImaginePlaces' co-design approach delivered by a Mikhail Riches Architects led design team is championed by York City Council across all sites of the City’s Housing Delivery Programme.
